Movin’ on soon

Posted by sue on April 10th, 2007

Our recent radio silence is a symptom of our a) serious jet lag, b) feeling rather unrooted because we’ve been wondering what to do next, and c) trying to get ourselves together to leave Cairo.

We’ve been staying in a free apartment, courtesy of our friend Lobna who spent the past month in Dubai, but she decided to come back to Cairo. She and her daughters arrived yesterday afternoon, so the entry room of the apartment is now lined with suitcases, ours and theirs. She’s invited us to stay with her as long as we like, but we’re ready to move on. So we’re going to Greece on Thursday, where we’ll spend the rest of April. More details to follow.

Are you still committed to your Arabic studies?

  2. sue Says:

Depends on what you mean by “committed.” No, I don’t have a concrete plan to reenter an Arabic program at this point, but I do intend to keep studying on my own while doing some other traveling. I just need a break from living in Middle Eastern countries. And, what I really want is a job, and I don’t think I can wait until I achieve Arabic fluency to start really looking for something, because it’s clear that it’s going to take awhile.

Pssst… Do I know you? Didn’t we go to school together about a million years ago in LeMars? Sounds like you have quite the life! I never moved farther than Sioux City… *sigh* Drop me a line sometime when you get a minute!
